Flexiteek is a synthetic teak panel and it is made of composite materials, 100% recyclable to other products and its non–slip qualities are superb. This deck material does not fade, dry out, split or crack and requires minimal maintenance. Installed on Seawinds is "Flexiteek 2G", the newest version, which is 35% lighter in weight than the original Flexiteak, and suffers fewer problems associated with other synthetic decking because it doesn’t get as hot.

Please note that the default colour and caulking combination is "Flexiteak Scrubbed, with Black Caulking". That combination is cooler to the touch in hot climates, and is of the 2nd generation "Flexiteek 2G" variety.

Webasto water heaters not only ensure even heat distribution in the boat, but also provide domestic hot water in connection with a water boiler. These heaters can be installed in the engine room with minimum space requirements, and can be easily combined with Webasto chiller air-conditioners to form an integrated climate control system.

The Iridium GO! is a satellite wifi router/phone. Once installed in the boat the boat will have a wifi hotspot the same as any office/home and all devices (phones, computers, chartplotters, c-zone etc) can then easily be connected to the internet. The unit is made by Iridium and the service provider is a company called PredictWind, which also supply the Iridium GO! kit with all parts needed including a pre-activated SIM card. Once the system has been installed into a boat and the SIM card inserted, the customer can then go to https://satellite.predictwind.com/dashboard/activate/confirm?type=sim and fill in the form to set up his/her credit card for monthly billing.

Professional Package

This option includes a professional package subscription with access to a large range of weather (and other) forecasting services which can be viewed on B&G chart plotters, tablets, computers etc. After the first year subscription has expired the owner can then choose to continue paying the annual subscription charges for the Professional Package weather forecasting services or they can select a different subscription package (including a free tier option). The weather package subscriptions offered by PredictWind are value added services, additional to the monthly satellite data package.

This option upgrades both heads to electric quiet flush. Quiet flush heads feature a separate macerator and flush pump allowing a quieter flush cycle than traditional electric toilets. This toilet include a single button flush actuator with a dual-function water level control switch and incorporates a powerful waste water evacuation pump with built-in macerator. One of the main denefits of this toilet is the ability to dry bowl after flushing.

Mounted on a hose close to the toilet, “The Bum Gun” has the added benefit of reducing toilet paper waste, is useful for toilet cleaning and enables the easy flushing of fresh water through salt water toilets when leaving the boat unattended for longer periods.

The Z-ION system introduces a stream of metallic ions that kill the organisms in a watermaker. Simply by casting it over the side, the lightweight Carley float can be launched more rapidly than traditional rigid lifeboat designs, and without the need for specialised hoists. This option provides a very lightweight lifeline that is immune to corrosion. This option reduces the weight of stainless steel componentry by eliminating the bow and stern rails and heavy stainless 7x19 wire. You can expect to sabve between 30 and 50kg depending on the model. Synthetic lifelines are tensioned with lashings that attach to pad eyes on the bow and transom and pass through stainless stanchions allong the side deck.

The biggest issue with synthetic lifelines is chafe. You need to be mindful of sheets rubbing on them. Chafe from the sheets can be managed by adjusting the sheet leads.

JACK LINE DESIGN

Of all the sails developed for the cruising sailor over the past 35-40 years, the multi-purpose spinnaker (or MPS) is a sail that sits atop the “must have” list for anyone sailing outside the confines of their harbor. 

The MPS is an asymmetrical spinnaker with the luff longer than the leech. The way these sails are set means the tack of the sail is attached to the boat at all times, via a bridle supported off the two bows. The bridle attachment allows the user to shift the tack from windward to leward as required maxamising the operational wind angle range of the sail. The MPS sail is light, large (115 sqm), powerful, and inexpensive. They take up little room for their size and are easy to set and douse using the provided snuffer.

The MPS is often the difference between motoring home in light to moderate air or being able to sail sometimes at the same speed, or more, as motoring, without the engine noise and fumes and so can make for a fine end to a great day sailing.

Top-down furling systems were originally designed for hard-core ocean racers, but they can make ripping downwind even more accessible for cruising crews and shorthanded sailors too.

Here are five reasons why top-down furling systems are awesome for asymmetrical spinnakers:

Makes spinnaker sailing as easy as deploying the genoa. In light winds, you can have the spinnaker hoisted and ready to go. As soon as you turn down, all you have to do is release the furling line, pull on the sheet, and voila! Instant gratification.

Foredeck union on strike? No problem. Since you can have the spinnaker rigged and ready to go before you even leave the dock, you can get the kite flying right from the cockpit. And in shifty situations when you’re sailing shorthanded or with inexperienced crew on board, a top-down furler makes flying a spinnaker a whole lot safer. “This is a great system for shorthanded sailors because you can deploy and furl the spinnaker from the safety of the cockpit,” says Scott Williman of Seldén Mast.

No more shrimping. Sail an angle as hot as you want, and douse at the last possible moment. Even with an inexperienced crew, there’s no chance of shrimping the kite. With a top-down furler, every douse will look like it was done by the pros. “You can sail a really hot angle to the wind with no risk of shrimping the kite,” says Ronstan’s Alan Prussia.

Takes the excitement out of gybing. An exciting gybe is often not a safe or fun gybe. Furl the sail partially or even fully before gybing and then easily re-deploy on the other side. A top-down furler limits the number of people you need to complete a gybe, and keeps the excitement in the sailing.

Ensuring the boat has had thorough testing prior to handover, we firstly launch and test your catamaran at the factory in Vietnam and secondly by way of an extensive 4-6 day delivery sail from HCM to Ocean Marina, Pattaya. These processes are closed to customers onboard, as our target to handover a boat in Thailand once the initial round of bedding-in items have already been addressed.

  • Day 1: Technical handover of all systems
  • Day 2: On the water handover with focus on the all aspects of safety such as reefing; anchoring; docking and sail deployment.
  • Day 3: Typically a mix of on water and systems review but as needs require.

The options includes transfers from Bangkok airport to your resort, hotel or accommodation of choice, as well as 3 days berthing at the marina.

To have clear access to all areas of the boat for handover, it is best to be land based for accommodation until day 3 of the handover. Both hotel accommodation and marina berthing can be obtained at discounted rates for Seawind customers as required

It is highly recommended to stay local for the first week of getting used to the boat and then going further afield to the local Islands. Route planning should include a return trip to Ocean Marina between month 1 & 2, or prior to leaving Thailand to ensure adequate time to resolve any commissioning items. They do happen, they are part of boating life, so let’s plan it into the schedule to tackle them before the boat is away from the factory and customer service resources.
