In the first week of December 2020 a daring group of Seawind owners gradually made their way south to the warm and sunny waters of Key West Florida. What brought them there? Well, that could be none other than the 2020 Seawind Key West rally! With 15 Seawind catamarans registered to attend and over 50 participants, this was set to be one cracking party to close out the year!
The Seawind Key West Rally was host on Dec 3-6, 2020, during a fun weekend, filled with many sailing, and social activities. The rally brought together a multitude of diverse experiences and provided a great forum for owners to share their ideas and stories in one of the most enjoyable settings of 2020.
Hosted by Seawind dealers , Sail Away Catamarans, the fleet of more than 12 Seawind boats (3 boats were unable to make it to Key West on time) and their owners going along with their able (and sometimes, not so able) crew members enjoyed a great time, enjoying a weekend of competitive but friendly and fun races.
We had a variety of models that came from up the East Coast. The rally was aiming to simply bring our Seawind Owners community closer together as well as expand the networks through opportunities of socializing, networking and shared stories of your cruising experiences .
There was a friendly race organized on the 2nd day of the rally. Then the boats headed from Key West to the Western Sambos Ecological Reserve to catch a mooring ball to swim and snorkel in the beautiful tropical waters.
Day times were full of fun ocean sailing or exploring Key West, and night times were scheduled for group activities like dinners, games, awards, musical performances, and outdoor movie night watching one of most iconic movies about sailing – Captain Ron!
Seawind Open House (Seawind Demo Sail Day) was organized to offer future Seawind Owners the opportunity to take the helm of other Seawind models for demo sails and tours and to hear first hand from other owners, what owning a Seawind is really like. The Demo Sail Day was put together to give those who are interested in buying a Seawind a closer experience and motivation to explore the ocean with our blue-water cruising catamarans.
The rally organizers have confirmed that they will make plans to host the event again in 2021. Hopefully this is the beginning of an annual event where we can see familiar faces returning together year after year. Unfortunately this year our team from the factory was unable to attend due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, hopefully for next year we will all be able to get together in Key west.
