Seawind Catamarans has been monitoring the worldwide coronavirus situation. This week, we noted a significant change in policy from governments and health organisations, which now changes our stance relating to boat shows, regattas and other events.
Therefore, in keeping with the health authorities’ advice, we are taking steps to protect our employees, boat owners, and potential customers by cancelling or postponing events in affected areas. This also includes the circumstances where, although the event is located in a safe zone, the Seawind boats used at the event are located in an affected area and it is now unsafe, unadvised, or prohibited from travel to those locations. The list of affected events may grow, but as of today’s date this includes:
- The International Multihull Show at La Grande Motte in France
It’s worth noting that, to date, the epidemic’s impact on Seawind and sister brand Corsair Marine (trimarans) has been small. Most of the effects have related to delays in the receipt of supplier goods such as sails, parts, or other hardware. Some customers will experience a delay in receiving such items – though their boat itself might be delivered on time. Where appropriate, some boats may face shipping or launching delays while we wait for parts that must be installed prior to launch. Such delays have been very limited so far.
We thank you for your patience during the coronavirus epidemic. We will continue to update you on changes as they occur in this fast-changing situation. And we send our thoughts to anyone more seriously affected.
