ONE
Seawind Catamarans’ innovative, upward hinging door arrangement offers an intelligent solution to a practical request for more open space on a catamarans wingdeck, whilst maintaining water tightness and security for the saloon. Seawind Catamarans pioneered the “open” saloon/cockpit back in 2004 with the introduction of the Tri-Fold Door system on the Seawind 1160, a feature now standard on the 1160, 1190 and 1260 sailboat models.
TWO
In the up position, the door is secured by a rope clutch and secondary safety bar a feature which as ensured a 100% safety record of this intelligent design. To lower the door, the safety bar is opened and the door is lowered by a control line at the port helm.
THREE
The Tri-Fold Door line runs to the port helm winch and is secured by a jammer when the door is raised. This allows for push button raising on boats optioned with an electric sheet winch.
FOUR
Once down, the door offers additional versatility in the ability to remain fully closed, port door closed with starboard open, or starboard closed with port door open. In foul sailing weather, the doors can remain closed, and weather tight whilst allowing for quick and easy access in and out of the boat.
FIVE
This arrangement allows for sailors to take their Seawind catamaran to any climate, through any sailing conditions. Locking up the boat with the doors down keeps your saloon cozy and warm in the winter but then in just 30 seconds the boat can be opened up completely. Open up those large forward hatches and you’re settled in a breezy, balcony like lounging area without the need of air conditioning or noisy generators.
